Aon’s Technology Leadership and Innovation Earns Spot on 2012 InformationWeek 500 List

CHICAGO (September 12, 2012)  Aon plc (NYSE:AON), the leading global provider of risk management and human resource consulting and outsourcing, announced today that it has been named to the 2012 InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology.

“Aon is dedicated to helping clients around the world solve their most complex risk and people challenges” said Steve Betts, chief information officer of Aon plc. “Being named to the InformationWeek 500 list is a testament to our commitment to investing in technology that supports our colleagues and helps us deliver maximum value to our clients.”

InformationWeek recognized Aon Hewitt, the human resource consulting business of Aon plc, for investing in technology to bring data from the firm’s three recently integrated compensation consulting businesses—McLagan, Radford, and Hewitt under one platform.

The platform will serve as the new end-to-end system for all Aon Hewitt’s compensation data collection, management, analysis, and reporting activities.

Once completed in 2013, Aon Hewitt’s database will be the most comprehensive, robust, flexible and state-of-the-art compensation database and calculation engine in the industry.  It will allow clients to directly access customized analyses and ad-hoc reporting while providing insight into relevant trends on key compensation design issues. Internally, the new platform creates significant efficiencies for Aon Hewitt’s consultants through its ability to improve productivity in processing surveys, automate tasks that were once done manually, and provide consultants with a wide array of tools that enable them to better serve clients.

"Leading edge technology is at the heart of how we provide world-class service to our clients," said Ash Patel, chief information officer of Aon Hewitt's Consulting Division. "Advancing to a single Aon compensation solution combines our best data and analyses across each of our compensation businesses to truly harness the power of our expertise and provide client insights unmatched in the industry."

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as they spotlight the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
