Aon Announces "Safe Space" Program as Part of Global Unmatched Talent Agenda
Goal is to create workplace where LGBT colleagues can be comfortable and authentic

Chicago, October 14, 2014 - - In recognition of “Coming Out Day”, Aon plc, the leading global provider of risk management and human resources solutions (NYSE:AON), today announced the launch of a “Safe Space" program for the firm’s LGBT colleagues.

In making the announcement, Aon president and CEO Greg Case said, “Aon’s Safe Space program is designed to create a workplace where everyone can be comfortable and authentic. The program indicates a place within our global firm where everyone respects others. It is being aware of the needs of our LGBT colleagues and helping to meet those needs through appreciation, support and awareness. Everyone at Aon who participates in the “Safe Space” program is saying that they do not tolerate anti-LGBT violence or harassment.

“Raising this level of support helps all employees as it creates the best possible working environment. This helps companies attract and retain the talent that every firm needs to grow and succeed. By providing Aon colleagues with the best opportunities we create an environment where they value our firm and in turn provide the best value to clients.

Case concluded, “A diverse and empowered workforce that can be authentic is critical to an organization’s ability to attract, hire and retain unmatched talent.”

Case made the announcement at a forum co-sponsored by KPMG that featured William “Billy” Bean, former Major League Baseball player and the first “Ambassador for Inclusion” for Major League Baseball, and Todd Sears, founder of Out Leadership.

For seven consecutive years, Aon has received a perfect 100 percent rating in the Human Rights Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index.
