London, June 12, 2014 – Celebrating its commitment to empowering economic and human possibility around the world, Aon plc (NYSE:AON), the leading global provider of risk management and human resources solutions, today will hold its Global Service Day, where colleagues in more than 40 countries will volunteer their time and efforts to support over 170 charity partners that empower people and serve communities at risk.

Aon’s Global Service Day will feature a social media campaign in partnership with the Red Cross to raise money for a children’s vaccination program in Mali. For every Global Service Day post by an Aon colleague to Instagram, Twitter and Aon’s internal Yammer network, Aon will donate USD 1 to provide a Measles or Rubella vaccination for a child in Mali. With a goal of vaccinating 10,000 young people, Aon colleagues have the opportunity to make a powerful impact on a community in need while also sharing their Global Service Day experience through social media.

Aon colleagues and community partners are encouraged to use the hashtag #EmpowerResults to share their events and activities.

“The core of any corporation's citizenship is how its business contributes to society and to the communities where its colleagues live and work," said Greg Case, Aon plc president and chief executive officer. "Aon's Global Service Day celebrates how our global colleagues come together for one purpose: to empower results for clients, colleagues and communities.”

Today in London, Case will participate alongside 20 Aon colleagues and Cancer Research UK fundraising managers in a working group to create a strategy for Cancer Research UK to raise £100,000 and recruit 400 participants to the charity.

Aon colleagues will contribute to these and many other organizations during Global Service Day:

  • Australia – Aon volunteers in Sydney will mentor and read to children of The Smith Family foundation as well as clean up national parks in the region with Conservation Volunteers Australia.
  • Brazil – Aon colleagues in Rio de Janeiro will spend the day with children of youth education charity Educandário Romão Duarte. Volunteers in Sao Paulo will perform arts and crafts projects with children of a local orphanage.
  • Canada – Aon volunteers in Toronto will work with Habitat for Humanity to build a house for a family in need. In Montreal, colleagues will participate in a 12-hour overnight fundraising event to raise money for cancer research.
  • Japan – Aon colleagues in Tokyo will participate in various local community service activities in partnership with the Chiyoda Volunteer Center. The activities include helping clean up downtown areas, visiting residents of a nursing home and participating in fundraising activities for earthquake and tsunami victims.
  • Poland – Aon volunteers in Krakow will spend a day at the Sieborowice Orphanage working to improve the condition of the facility and its surroundings. Afterwards, volunteers will spend time with the children playing games and sports.
