Aon Hewitt Anticipates New Life Expectancy Assumptions Could Drive Further Pension De-Risking Actions by Corporate Pension Plan Sponsors
Aon Hewitt Experts Available to Discuss Final Society of Actuaries’ Mortality Tables on Defined Benefit Plan Sponsors

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. – Today, the Society of Actuaries (SOA) released its latest U.S. mortality assumptions for pension plans. Experts from Aon Hewitt, the global talent, retirement and health solutions business of Aon plc (NYSE: AON), are available to discuss the changes to the tables and how the revised life expectancies will impact corporate pension and retiree medical plan sponsors and participants.

The revised pension mortality tables were last updated more than a decade ago. Under the new tables, a 65 year old U.S. male is expected to live to age 86.6 and a 65 year old female is expected to live to age 88.8. According to estimates from Aon Hewitt, these changes could increase the liabilities of many corporate defined benefit (DB) plans by 7 percent or more.

Aon Hewitt experts are available to speak about the final SOA reports and mortality assumptions, as well as what the changes will mean for corporate DB plans. Click here to read Aon Hewitt’s white paper on the initial proposed mortality assumptions changes, which were released in February 2014. An updated analysis of the final revisions will be available soon at aonhewitt.com.
