Hindustan Unilever Tops the Seventh Aon Hewitt Best Employers in India 2011 Study

NEW DELHI, INDIA, MAY 5 2011 – Aon Hewitt, the global human resource consulting and outsourcing business of Aon Corporation (NYSE: AON) announced the results of its seventh Best Employers in India 2011 study. The study involved 3 key stages:

1. Data gathering through various diagnostic tools

2. Onsite Audit (for random sampled organizations)

3. Judging of companies by a panel of independent judges

 

A five member panel of judges evaluated ‘masked’ inputs to select the 25 Aon Hewitt Best Employers in India. The company names were not shared to ensure’ blind’ judging. The five member jury was chaired by Mr. VS Mahesh - M.D of VSM Consulting, and a renowned HR Professional with over 40 years of experience in Industry and Academics in India and Abroad. The other members of the judging panel were Shri Bhaskar Chatterjee- Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India, Ms. Meher Pudumjee -Chairperson, Thermax Limited, Prof. Shyamal Roy - Member, Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and Ms. Mahalakshmi Iyer- Chief Editor of Outlook Business Magazine.

The judges evaluated a wealth of data that provided a 360-degree view on each organization, including a view of employees and leaders, as well as insights into each organizatrion’s HR practices. The jury considered multiple parameters including employee engagement score, effectiveness of the people practices and most importantly, whether the company exhibits a strong organization alignment between strategic goals and HR programs.

The study received opinions from more than 40,000 employees representing a workforce of over 8 lakh people—making it the largest single source of employee and human capital research across the country.
