Insurance industry’s artists create a visual feast at the Lloyd’s annual art show

LONDON (20 October 2014) – Nearly 50 insurance professionals will be showcasing their artwork at the Lloyd’s Art Group’s Autumn Exhibition from Monday 27 to Friday 31 October at the Old Library. Aon UK Limited, part of Aon plc (NYSE:AON), is proud to sponsor the Lloyd’s Art Group.

The Lloyd’s Art Group has been running since 1963 and is committed to supporting the insurance community by enabling both professional and budding artists – whether currently in the industry or retired – and their families to exhibit their work at a prestigious venue. With an additional commitment to charity, 15% of the art sales go towards the worthy Coombe Trust to support disadvantaged families and the homeless.

Susannah Hubert, Leader of Lloyd’s Art Group, enthused: “This year’s exhibition boasts Matisse-inspired paintings and sculptures created from padlocks through to mixed media, glass and etchings. It’s a visual feast that we hope will inspire colleagues in the industry and beyond.”

Dominic Christian, President of Lloyd’s Art Group and CEO, Aon UK Ltd & Aon Benfield - Executive Chairman, International, commented: “What fascinates me is the people behind the art. Our colleagues in underwriting, broking, claims whose exceptional skills and creativity add another dimension to the industry. Empowering the insurance and wider communities to flourish is at the heart of this initiative by promoting excellence in art and bringing together industry professionals and their families with a common passion.”

Matt Northmore is married to Natalie Northmore, a senior analyst at Catlin. He studied Fine Art at Cardiff College of Art and Winchester School of Art, in addition to spending three months at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.  He commented: “The work I produce is informed and influenced by human interaction and cities. My current work reflects my fascination with the infrastructure, aesthetics and language of the city from the minutiae to the grandiose, the shadows and the light. I am as interested in the human interactions as of those of buildings, signs and technologies; of the surface and what lies beneath.”

Industry colleagues can access the exhibition with a Lloyd’s pass or email susannah@lloydsartgroup.co.uk to be put on the guest list.
