Environmental Insurance Specialist Joins Aon Risk Services to Enhance Global Capabilities

CHICAGO and LONDON, June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aon Corporation (NYSE: AOC) today announced that leading environmental insurance specialist Simon Johnson, Ph.D., has joined the firm as director in the Aon Environmental Services Group. Dr. Johnson will coordinate the delivery of the unit's environmental services to clients in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He will be based in London.

Aon Environmental Services Group is a unit of Aon Risk Services, the world's largest insurance broker and risk management consultant based on annual revenues.

Dr. Johnson has more than 29 years of experience, the last 20 in the assessment, management, financial valuation and transfer of environmental risks. He has specialized in land, property and business transactions. Formerly the technical and underwriting director of Certa (UK) Ltd., Dr. Johnson was responsible for designing and underwriting a range of environmental insurance and risk transfer products and solutions written by Allianz. In this capacity, he wrote some 300 separate policies covering more than 1,000 different sites and thousands of properties in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Dr. Johnson has also worked for, advised and represented public and private companies, institutions and governmental bodies. He initiated and was responsible for a collaborative industry-government program providing comprehensive guidance on contaminated and brownfield land for practitioners in the United Kingdom. He has also worked in the oil and gas and mining industries.

Dr. Johnson has an honors degree in civil engineering, a master's degree in rock mechanics and a doctorate in mining engineering. He is a member of the Institute of Directors.
