LONDON, 7 November, 2008 - In a series of investment conferences running throughout the country in November, leading pension, benefits and HR consulting firm Aon Consulting will confront concerns resulting from the unprecedented level of turbulence in financial markets, with major financial institutions under threat and first-time actions being taken by governments and central banks.

The Aon 2008 Investment Conferences will explore the challenges thrown up by economic and political changes that in many cases could have severe implications for pension schemes. Understanding how pension schemes are exposed to market turbulence is critical to what actions trustees and sponsoring employers can take in response. Aon Consulting's team of investment professionals will be joined by City experts, including Tim Congdon who was a member of the Treasury Panel of Independent Forecasters (the so-called "wise men"), which advised the Chancellor of the Exchequer on economic policy. They will be covering topics such as:

  •  What can be learned from previous crises
  • How different asset classes are reacting to the current climate
  • Implications for covenant assessment
  • The potential impact of the US election result
  • What all this means for your pension scheme

Speaking about the conferences Paul Docherty, Aon Consulting said: "These conferences look to offer understanding and solutions to trustees and employers in this turbulent market place, through our own client experiences we can show how different investment strategies, if carefully managed, can achieve the desired result. A key focus will be the employer covenant. The reality is that the security of pension benefits is critically related to the strength of the employer providing those benefits. It is essential that both companies and trustees fully understand the impact that broader economic issues are having on the employer’s business."

The conference is free to attend. Please email investmentconference@aon.co.ukor call 0800 279 5588 to confirm your place:
