Aon’s Environmental Services Group Issues Statement About Defective Drywall
CHICAGO
NYSE: AOC

CHICAGO - March 27, 2009 – Aon Corporation (NYSE: AOC) today issued the following statement by Rod Taylor, managing director of Aon’s Environmental Services group, in response to news and allegations that defective Chinese-made drywall may be emitting corrosive gases and causing health problems. Several class-action lawsuits have been filed against builders, subcontractors, suppliers, distributors and manufacturers.

Said Taylor, “The complexity of these cases points to a need for more careful consideration of the structure of the insurance that is arranged for contractors, suppliers and manufacturers involved in the construction industry. The review of insurance alternatives should include consideration of environmental insurance in order to provide protection where pollution may cause bodily injury or property damage. The combination of better commercial general liability coverage coupled with environmental insurance written by a single insurer is the most comprehensive protection available for these risks and is recommended for all parties exposed to loss as a result of defective products and/or defective construction.”
