Three New Signings Boost Aon Sports Team

 

London – 2nd August 2004 – Aon has announced three new appointments to accelerate its growing presence in the provision of insurance and risk management expertise to the sporting world.

Bill Garside is to join as a Director within Aon’s Global Risks division. Mr Garside, will join from SBJ where he is Managing Director of SBJ Sports.  He brings with him almost 25 years’ expertise in the sporting arena, particularly working with most of the Premier and Football League clubs and their governing bodies. He is tasked with developing Aon’s business across a whole range of sports including football, cricket, rugby, racing and motorsport.

James Hands, with extensive experience of insurance broking for sporting organisations, also joins as a Director within Aon’s Global Risks division. Mr Hands, joins from SBJ and will bring with him a wealth of expertise in arranging & placing complex insurance solutions for clients in the world of football, racing & sports in general.

Bill Garside and James Hands will join Aon once they have concluded their current contractual obligations.

Aon has also hired Steve Talboys to build Aon’s presence in the provision of insurance services, such as Permanent Total Disability cover for professional footballers. Formerly from Panacea (Football) Ltd, Mr Talboys was a professional footballer for Wimbledon Football Club from 1992 to 1996, making 31 FA Premiership, FA Cup and Coca Cola Cup appearances.

Commenting on the appointments, Peter English, Managing Director for Aon’s Global Risks division, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to attract three people of such high quality to help build Aon’s presence in the provision of risk management and insurance services across the sporting world. While we have tremendous experience in providing insurance products to football clubs, such as personal accident, property and liability, I am also looking to build the business across a wide range of sporting disciplines, particularly in motorsport.”
