Ian McKinlay Appointed Head of Aon Consulting's Investment Practice
New appointment further strengthens senior management team as part of Aon Consulting's continued focus on client service and growth

LONDON, 24 MAY 2004. Aon Consulting, a leading pensions, benefits and HR consulting firm, announced today that Ian McKinlay has been appointed Head of the Investment Consulting Practice. Mr McKinlay takes up his new role with immediate effect.

Mr McKinlay has been operating as Acting Practice Head since the beginning of 2004. His new position was announced following an extensive selection exercise, which considered a number of external candidates.

Mr McKinlay's role as Practice Head will focus on technical excellence, innovation and professional issues to ensure that the practice members have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide the best investment consulting services to clients.

Commenting on his new role in Aon Consulting, Mr McKinlay said, "I am delighted to be appointed as Head of the Investment Consulting Practice. In my capacity of Acting Practice Head over the past five months, I have had the opportunity to familiarise myself with the day-to-day running of the practice and I am now looking to take this experience one step further - to drive the development of the Investment Consulting Practice".

"The nature of the pension fund investment market is continuously changing. This offers Aon Consulting some exciting opportunities".

Mr McKinlay's career at Aon Consulting began in 2000 when he joined the Edinburgh office to provide investment advice to a portfolio of clients, both in Scotland and around the rest of the UK.

His influence led the Edinburgh office to adopt a more innovative approach to asset and liability modelling. This lead to a growth in the number of specialist pension fund mandates the office was awarded during this time.

In January 2003 Mr McKinlay was appointed to manage Aon Consulting's Investment office in London. Under his new role Mr McKinlay will report to Aon Consulting's Managing Director, Robert Middleton.

Mr Middleton said: "Ian brings an exceptional range and depth of talents to the role of Head of Investment. His appointment will further strengthen our senior management team as we work to realise the potential for growth that exists in this firm."

Mr McKinlay is a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries. He sits on the company's Investment Manager Ratings Committee and the company's Global Practice Council - which devise the strategy for Aon Consulting's Investment Practices around the globe. He takes over from Adrian Swales, who has stepped down from this position in order to develop Aon's Asset Management business.
