DARWIN, 13 December 2007 – Aon Australia has appointed 20 year insurance veteran Phil Finlayson to manage its Darwin office.

Aon’s NT & SA retail state manager, Ian Shelby-James, said Finlayson had a combination of commercial and corporate insurance broking experience.

“This makes him ideal for meeting the growing insurance and risk management needs of Aon’s Darwin clients,” he said.

“Phil has a diverse insurance background and has specialised in a number of areas including small to medium business, construction, marine, landlord and personal insurance.

“In Darwin, he will be responsible for managing the Darwin branch, servicing larger local clients and expanding Aon’s business in the area.

“Phil joins us from Melbourne where he worked as a senior account manager for Austcover. In this role he was responsible for identifying new business opportunities, working with existing clients on their insurance risk needs and ensuring renewal timeframes and ensuring legislative requirements were being met.

“Phil has also worked for Comsure Insurance Brokers, Sedgwick MacDermott Insurance Brokers and started his career in Queensland with the Insurance Exchange of Australia.”

Phil said he was looking forward to his new role.

“I am excited to work for Aon,” he said. “I relish the challenges ahead and look forward to meeting and working with our Darwin clients.”
