Duncan Brown has over 20 years' experience in both consulting organisations and research bodies.  Since 2008 he has been the director of Reward Services at the Institute for Employment Studies, the independent research group and think-tank.  Before this he was director Management and Employee Reward at PricewaterhouseCoopers and prior to that a partner at Towers Perrin. Duncan also spent five years as assistant director-general at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

As a very well-known figure in industry circles, Duncan Brown is a regular writer and speaker on HR, performance and reward issues. His most recent book is on Evidence-based Reward Management and he has been a member of the expert advisory group to the government's Hutton Fair Pay Review.
