DUBLIN, July 29, 2025 - Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, today announced that David DeBrunner will join Aon as Senior Vice President, Global Controller and Chief Accounting Officer on September 15, 2025. As Aon’s principal accounting officer, DeBrunner will report to Aon CFO Edmund Reese with oversight of the firm’s accounting and financial reporting functions.

DeBrunner brings to Aon over three decades of distinguished leadership in the financial services industry with experience spearheading strategic finance and accounting initiatives. DeBrunner’s strategic acumen and ability to drive efficiency and innovation have been recognized throughout his career and his experience in complex accounting matters and regulatory reporting further underscores his ability to navigate complex financial matters.
Most recently, DeBrunner served as Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller for Ally Financial Inc., where his leadership was pivotal in Ally's transition to a bank holding company and its successful initial public offering. At Ally, DeBrunner led transformative finance initiatives, including the consolidation of thirty-three general ledgers into a single SAP platform and the implementation of their Current Expected Credit Losses reserve methodology. Earlier in his career, DeBrunner held the position of Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller at Fifth Third Bancorp, where he was instrumental in centralizing accounting functions and implementing technology solutions to streamline operations.
DeBrunner succeeds Michael Neller, who has served as Aon’s Chief Accounting Officer and Global Controller since February 21, 2018. On March 13, 2025, Aon announced that Neller will transition into a new role as Deputy Global Chief People Officer and Head of Total Rewards and Talent Development for the firm.
