CHICAGO, July 20, 2025 - Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, today announced that Michael Mahoney has been appointed Northeast Region Leader and Co-Head of the U.S., effective August 1, 2026. In his new roles, Mahoney will join the Aon Executive Committee, while continuing to serve on the North America Executive Committee.
As Northeast Region Leader, Mahoney will lead one of the firm's most dynamic and strategically important U.S. markets, leveraging his deep client relationships and experience to drive growth and deliver value for clients. As Co-Head of the U.S., he will help shape the strategic direction of Aon's largest regional market, partnering across Risk Capital and Human Capital to advance the Aon United strategy and to help clients address increasingly interconnected business challenges to protect and grow their organizations.
Mahoney brings nearly three decades of industry experience and a distinguished track record of helping clients navigate increasingly complex risk and people challenges. Throughout his 15-year tenure at Aon, he has held a series of leadership positions spanning sales, client leadership, commercial strategy and regional management, while building high-performing teams, deep client relationships and a strong track record of business growth.
"Michael is an exceptional leader who combines deep business acumen with an unwavering commitment to our clients and colleagues," said Anne Corona, CEO of North America for Aon. "Over the course of his career, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to inspire teams, develop talent and help clients navigate complexity with confidence. His growth mindset, collaborative leadership style and passion for delivering outstanding client outcomes make him uniquely positioned to lead our Northeast Region and help shape the future of our U.S. business."
Most recently, Mahoney served as Chief Commercial Officer for the U.S., where he strengthened commercial discipline and accelerated growth across Commercial Risk, Health, Wealth and Talent. His leadership helped deepen firm-wide collaboration and enabled teams to more consistently deliver the full breadth of Aon's capabilities to clients. Prior to serving as Chief Commercial Officer, Mahoney was Head of Commercial Risk Sales for North America; before that, he served as West Region Leader. Earlier in his career, he held brokerage and client leadership roles in financial lines and management liability. Mahoney is supporting the process to fill his responsibilities as Chief Commercial Officer for the U.S. and will remain in this role until a new leader is identified.
Known for his hands-on approach with clients and commitment to developing top talent, Mahoney has established a reputation for building high-performing teams while maintaining a relentless focus on client outcomes.
"I am honored to take on these new roles and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our clients and colleagues in new ways," said Mahoney. "The momentum across our business is strong, and I am excited to build on that foundation as we help clients make better decisions, strengthen resilience and achieve their goals. I look forward to working alongside our talented teams across the Northeast and the broader U.S. to deliver meaningful value for clients and accelerate growth."
