Two new consulting-led diagnostics give risk and finance leaders an evidence-based view of property and casualty exposure, and where to act first
DUBLIN, September 29, 2026 - Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, today announced the launch of two new diagnostic tools, the Property Risk Diagnostic and the Casualty Risk Diagnostic, designed to help organizations evaluate exposure, prioritize action and make more confident decisions on risk, resilience and insurance strategy.
Risk and finance leaders are under growing pressure to evidence how risk is managed and where investment delivers return. For property risks, that means understanding which sites and hazards drive expected loss and which resilience measures are worth funding. For casualty risks, rising claims costs, evolving regulation and continued margin pressure have made total cost of risk (TCOR) a board-level metric. Both diagnostics are built to replace subjective ratings and static reporting with consistent, data-driven insight.
“Clients are asking a sharper question than a few years ago: not just what their risk is, but what to do about it and what it is worth," said Christian Hoffman, CEO of Commercial Risk, Aon. "Our Property Risk Diagnostic and Casualty Risk Diagnostic are two distinct tools built for two distinct problems, but they share the same purpose: giving risk and finance leaders an evidence base they can act on with confidence.”
Property Risk Diagnostic: quantifying estimated exposure and the value of resilience
Delivered by Aon Global Risk Consulting risk engineers, the Property Risk Diagnostic brings together modeled and historic loss estimates across natural catastrophe and day-to-day property risks, reflecting risk improvements already in place. It gives clients a consistent way to compare sites and hazards, test resilience options side by side and build the business case for investment as needed. Key features include:
- Modeled and historic loss insights — catastrophe and non-catastrophe loss perspectives, adjusted for observed mitigation.
- Scenario playground — compare resilience options side by side to understand risk reduction and payback.
- Location and hazard prioritization — identify the sites and perils driving expected loss and volatility.
- Advisory support — Aon consultants translate findings into a practical resilience roadmap that can be refreshed over time to evidence year-over-year improvement and support renewal discussions.
Casualty Risk Diagnostic: connecting claims data to total cost of risk
The Casualty Risk Diagnostic analyzes client claims data across auto liability, general liability and workers' compensation alongside Aon's proprietary benchmarking database, delivering interactive, self-serve insight on a quarterly basis. It gives clients a consistent way to identify the loss drivers shaping total cost of risk, benchmark performance against peers and track progress against cost and performance targets over time. The solution is initially available to clients in North America, with broader international availability planned for 2027.
Key features include:
- Aon proprietary benchmarks — compare experience against relevant anonymized peer sets aligned to organizational structure.
- Savings calculator — quantify and demonstrate return on investment from targeted mitigation actions.
- Performance tracker — set and monitor targets aligned to strategic objectives.
- Custom Findings Summary and TCOR advisory — pre-built analysis translated by Aon consultants into targeted mitigation strategies and risk transfer and retention decisions.
“Analytics only create value when they inform what a client does next," said Richard Waterer, Global Risk Consulting Leader, Aon. "Both tools are consulting-led by design. Our engineers and consultants sit alongside the data, helping clients interpret the findings, agree on priorities and turn them into measurable improvements over time.”
Advancing Aon's data and analytics capabilities
The launch builds on Aon's continued investment in data, analytics and technology-enabled capabilities. Alongside Aon's AI Risk Diagnostic, launched in July 2026, and tools such as Aon Broker Copilot, Aon Claims Copilot and Aon's suite of Risk Analyzers, the Property Risk Diagnostic and Casualty Risk Diagnostic reflect Aon's approach to combining risk expertise, analytics and technology to help clients make more informed decisions in an increasingly complex risk environment.
