Aon Celebrates U.S. Apprenticeship Week
November 17, 2023

215 words…about a minute read

One big thing: The U.S. is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week, which showcases the successes and value of registered apprenticeship programs in strengthening the economy, advancing racial and gender equity and supporting underserved communities.

  • Deserving Recognition: The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship selected Aon apprentice Gabriela Caballero as an Apprentice Trailblazer. Caballero will help the Department of Labor and other stakeholders expand, diversify, modernize and strengthen Registered Apprenticeships across the country.
  • Local Apprenticeship Networks throughout the U.S. will host events in Minneapolis, Houston, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, Southern California, New York, Chicago and Northern California —  where Aon colleagues and apprentices will attend.
  • Aon Colleagues participated in an event hosted by the City Colleges of Chicago and One Million Degrees with special guest Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. Daniel Serota, Aon’s vice president of public affairs, talked at the event about Aon's success with apprenticeships.
  • Watch: a WGN interview with Chant’e Boyd, a former Aon apprentice, on her experience in the apprenticeship program and how the opportunity changed her career trajectory.

Flashback: Aon hosted First Lady of the United States Jill Biden, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, former U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh and U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona at the Aon Center in Chicago to celebrate last year’s National Apprenticeship Week. Read more here.
