Today we released our 2020 Impact Report , which describes in great detail the work we are doing as a firm to have a greater impact on society. While there are many important initiatives highlighted in the report – and I encourage you to read it all – I wanted to highlight an important environmental pledge we are making for the future.
I am proud to announce that Aon is committing to net-zero emissions by 2030.
We believe this is a necessary step to take as a global corporate citizen to ensure we are doing our part to reduce our carbon footprint and help mitigate the significant and catastrophic impacts of climate change. Since 2015, we’ve reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by 60%+, but we recognize there is much more work to be done to have a lasting impact.
In alignment with science-based targets, we will adopt achievable objectives and set action plans focusing on sustainable sourcing, energy efficiency, business travel and renewable energy. Taking these actions will make our firm more effective, efficient and resilient.
We have long been committed to best practices internally and our firm will continue to work with clients to help them identify, understand and mitigate key environmental, social and governance risks to navigate volatility and drive innovation.
This is just a first step for us, but a very significant one. We believe it is in the best interests of our colleagues, clients and communities that we make this commitment, and we will continue to share our progress toward this goal.
