In the U.S., February is Black History Month, which celebrates the lives and historic contributions of Black Americans. Aon’s values - committed, united and passionate – help to foster a culture of inclusion, diversity and wellbeing within our firm. Here are just a few examples:
- In Chicago, Aon’s Black Professionals Network hosted a Black History Month Career Panel attended by program participants from My Brother's Keeper, Girls Opportunity Alliance and the Obama Foundation at the Aon Center in Chicago. During the event, representatives from the Obama Foundation and Aon discussed the importance of mentorship in front of an audience of over 100 colleagues, apprentices and high school students. After the panel discussion, attendees networked with representatives from Aon, Obama Foundation, KPMG, Spa In Your Space, The Prolific Institute, Youth Guidance: Becoming a Man, University of Chicago Medical Careers Exposure and Emergency Preparedness Program, Build Bronzeville and UL Solutions. - In New York, Aon colleagues Jada Cherry and Josh Williams were honored by the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) New York as emerging leaders in the New York area in NAAIA New York’s celebration of Black History Month.
- All Aon colleagues were invited to a virtual townhall to share perspectives on this year’s theme, Black Resistance, and discuss the events planned throughout the month. Among those events was a “lunch and learn” to discuss the limited docuseries The 1619 Project at The Woodlands, Texas office and virtual speaker events with social activist Minnijean Brown Trickey, founder of Black History Month Dr. Carter Woodson, Little Rock native Rosie Tolbert, diversity strategist Stacey Gordon and Aon’s North America Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Johnson.
- In Atlanta, colleagues volunteered over 80 hours of time and helped 124 students from Sylvan Hills Middle School by sharing budgeting practices and life experiences to help them on their financial literacy journey.
