What’s happening: Several western U.S. states are battling heavy rain, wind, snow and flooding as a powerful storm system sweeps across the region. Last week, an “atmospheric river”, a long flowing region of the atmosphere that carries water vapor through the sky, bore down on portions of northern California, Oregon and Washington.
