Cyber Security Awareness Month and Making Better Decisions
October 04, 2022

Aon is helping clients and colleagues make better decisions when it comes to cyber risk and will be sharing information from Cyber Security Awareness Month to educate the public, individuals and organizations.

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) theme for this year is "see yourself in cyber" to demonstrate that while cyber security may seem complex, it’s all about the people and actions individuals take to be cyber secure. To provide educational resources on the importance of cybersecurity, Aon has published articles on topics ranging from the cost of cyber risk and your role in cyber security to the targeting of family members to reach high-net-worth individuals. Each week throughout October, we’ll share action-oriented suggestions to help individuals and organizations become more cyber secure.

In addition, Aon is helping clients be cyber aware by offering more resources on aon.com, discussing cyber threat hunts on episode 37 of the On Aon podcast and publishing insights about strategies to mitigate risk of ransomware attacks, the rising risk of cyber business interruption, how to engage employees to be cyber aware and deepfakes and cyber espionage.

Canadian Underwriter published an article about how to help commercial clients after they’ve experienced a cyber breach citing Aon’s perspective. Brian Rosenbaum, managing director of claims at Aon, said, “You need to strike a balance between what to say, when to say it and to whom. Silence is never good, but overstating, understating and speculating, are also not good.” European Pensions wrote about the increasing risk of cyber attacks especially since the COVID-19 pandemic. They cited Aon’s Global Pension Risk Survey 2022, which reported that the proportion of schemes impacted by cyber incidents increased form three percent in 2019 to seven percent in 2021.

Aon recently issued its E&O and Cyber Market Review – Midyear 2022, which found the Errors & Omissions and cyber insurance marketplace is becoming more buyer-friendly than a year ago with more underwriting rigor, new excess capacity and reviewed coverage. Meanwhile, the Fourth Quarter 2021 Global Market Insights Report examines market trends as cyber risk grows in complexity and volatility.
