Meteorologist Steve Bowen Discusses Catastrophic Events, Climate in “On Aon” Episode 10
August 09, 2021

2020 was a record year for global weather-related catastrophic events—in the U.S. and beyond—resulting in more than $268 billion in economic damages. And just today, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the United Nations body responsible for assessing the science related to climate change, published its latest report.

On episode 10 of the “On Aon” podcast, Maria Harshbarger, Health Solutions Chief Client Officer at Aon, is joined by Aon’s Head of Catastrophe Insight, Steve Bowen, for a conversation about extreme weather events and helping clients prepare for long-tail risks like climate change.

Steve, a meteorologist, explains how he became interested in weather events, the resources meteorologists (and Aon) use to track and analyze weather patterns and how this data and insight can inform client relationships and risk mitigation efforts. And Steve and Maria realize they share more than an employer; they’re both “metal heads.”

Learn more about Steve, his role and his Metallica fandom in his “I’m From Aon” feature video. The “On Aon” podcast is available on Spotify, Stitcher, Simplecast and Apple Podcasts (iTunes).
