CHICAGO, 11/17/2014 – Aon Benfield, the global reinsurance intermediary and capital advisor of Aon plc (NYSE: AON), today announces that Thomas D Sass joins the firm as a Managing Director within its U.S. Accident, Health and Life practice.
In his new role, Sass will be based in Minneapolis and will report to Roger K Smith, Senior Managing Director of Aon Benfield Accident, Health and Life.

His responsibilities will include driving new business growth in the healthcare sector, leading client teams, and creating and maintaining a robust business environment that is supportive to optimizing client results.

Sass has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors, having held senior executive positions at ING/ReliaStar, Allianz, KMG America, Presidio Reinsurance Group and most recently at PartnerRe Health. 

He has broad expertise in the healthcare and worksite insurance and reinsurance industry, both nationally and internationally.  During his career, Sass has founded new healthcare and worksite insurance carriers, and has developed and led the second largest organ and bone marrow transplant specialty provider network in the U.S..

He participates on the boards and committees of multi-national insurance organizations and industry associations, and has led significant growth through effective marketing and sales strategies to achieve the largest managed care U.S. health reinsurer.
