London, 14 July 2016 – Aon Benfield, the global reinsurance intermediary and capital advisor of Aon plc (NYSE:AON), has raised £60,000 for Action Medical Research following a charity cycle ride through England’s New Forest. 

The Aon Benfield Summer 2016 Charity Bike Ride took place on Monday, July 4, and saw 205 cyclists from the London insurance market tackle challenging 50-mile and 100-mile courses.  The riders were led out by Darren Kenny OBE, gold medallist at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games and silver medallist at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
 
Since 2013 Aon Benfield has raised more than £400,000 in charitable donations through a series of charity cycle rides.
 
Dominic Christian, Chief Executive Officer of Aon UK Ltd and Executive Chairman of Aon Benfield’s International business, said: “We were delighted to welcome so many colleagues and clients to the ride, which proved to be great event for all and one that, more importantly, raised a considerable sum for such a worthy cause as Action Medical Research.” 
 
For more than 60 years Action Medical Research has helped pioneer treatments and ways to prevent disease that have benefited millions of people in the UK and across the world. Research the charity has funded has helped to beat polio in the UK, develop ultrasound in pregnancy, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths.
