CHICAGO (April 25, 2017) – Aon Risk Solutions, the global risk management business of Aon plc (NYSE: AON) congratulates the RIMS 2017 Risk Manager of the Year award winner and Honor Roll recipients at a celebratory breakfast in Philadelphia. Loren Nickel, director of business risk and insurance at Google, was honored as the Risk Manager of the Year along with Juliana Keaton, most recently with CSX Transportation, Scot Schwarting with Whirlpool Corporation and Benjamin Evans from the University of Pennsylvania who were named to the award’s Honor Roll.

Nickel’s extensive background as an underwriter and actuary, specializing in complex business risk, brings a unique perspective to his role, allowing him to successfully demonstrate how risk finance adds value to an organization. During his first 12 months at Google, Nickel laid the foundation of future risk management efforts. He then developed an innovative risk model from the ground up that guides the organization in a risk finance strategy to efficiently manage long-term volatility. His efforts also allow Google to model risks in a portfolio, providing the company with the optimal risk transfer method.

The RIMS Risk Manager of the Year Award, formerly known as the Business Insurance Risk Manager of the Year Award, is a tradition that recognizes outstanding performance in the practice of risk management. Candidates are nominated by others within his or her professional network including superiors, the risk management staff of the candidate’s organization and both internal and external colleagues.
