Aon Expands Climate Risk Monitor to Enhance Business Resilience
New features include high-resolution flood risk projections for global clients

DUBLIN, May 14, 2025 - Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, today announced the expansion of its Climate Risk Monitor solution to include quantification of tropical cyclone and flood, an enhanced user interface and direct client access. The updates also include a new hazard vulnerability component based on location occupancy types.

Climate Risk Monitor, which was introduced to clients last year, provides in-depth analyses of climate impact on a range of chronic and acute perils – such as flood, drought, extreme rainfall, extreme heat, freeze, tropical cyclone and wildfire under different climate change scenarios. Its latest reporting functionality includes:

 • Identification of clients’ riskiest individual locations and geographical concentrations of risk;

Most impactful perils on individual assets and portfolios;

Geographical visualizations of changing risk;

Risk assessment methodology and uncertainty for regulatory and reporting purposes.

Global insured losses from natural disasters in 2024 were estimated at $145B according to Aon’s 2025 Climate and Catastrophe Insight report.

Climate Risk Monitor leverages the firm’s insights and industry expertise, providing transparent views of risk across various climate perils. Importantly for 2025, the tool is helping clients build more resilient supply chains by evaluating key supplier locations; demonstrate climate understanding and planning to stakeholders; and support regulatory due diligence and risk disclosures.

Liz Henderson, global head of Climate Risk Advisory for Aon, said: “With the increasing frequency and severity of natural catastrophes, understanding and managing climate risk is crucial for our clients. The enhanced features of Aon's Climate Risk Monitor provide unparalleled insights into the potential impacts of these events, enabling businesses to make informed decisions and build resilience against future climate-related challenges.”

In December 2024, Aon announced a collaboration with flood expert, Fathom, which saw high resolution data bolster Climate Risk Monitor’s functionality across flash flooding, river flooding, coastal flooding and rising sea levels.

As a result, Aon clients now use the solution to assess U.S., UK and Japan flood risk at a resolution of 10 square meters, and 30 square meters for other regions globally, enabling them to better understand the influence of a changing climate on flood perils worldwide. The addition of high-resolution flood data within Climate Risk Monitor provides forward projections of flood risk across a range of emissions scenarios, helping re/insurers understand the insurability of the flood peril.
