Aon Makes New Appointment in Gibraltar and Malta

London – 3 February 2006 – Paul Sykes has been appointed as Managing Director of Aon Insurance Managers’ operations in Gibraltar and Malta. Aon Insurance Managers is a division of Aon Captive Services Group (ACSG), the world’s largest captive management group.

Mr Sykes will be based in Gibraltar having relocated from Aon in Guernsey where he was a Director of the company.

My Sykes joined Aon in 1993 and was most recently responsible for leading the operations of Aon’s White Rock Group of protected cell companies. He has also been responsible for running the captive programmes of some of the UK’s largest companies.

Clive James, Group MD for Aon Insurance Managers, commented: “I am delighted to announce Paul’s appointment as MD of our Gibraltar and Malta operations. Paul’s considerable experience in the captive and protected cell company (PCC) market will enhance our already successful Gibraltar operation and help develop our new operation in Malta. Both these new domiciles are amongst our fastest growing within ACSG worldwide and Paul will play a key role in developing and maintaining our growth strategy in these operations”.

Mr Sykes added: “I am excited by the opportunities that exist in both Malta and Gibraltar to develop Aon’s operations there. They possess both direct writing and protected cell company capabilities, which have been two principal features of captive insurance industry growth in recent years. The governments of Gibraltar and Malta are committed to the respective insurance industries as a significant contributor to the growth of their economies. We already have a talented team of people to work with, so the conditions are positive in all respects for Aon’s operations in both jurisdictions.”

Mr Sykes is a past President of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey.  He is a Chartered Insurer, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a chartered company secretary.
