LOS ANGELES, April 2, 2009 – Aon/Albert G. Ruben, the world’s leading insurance broker for the entertainment industry, today announced that Tekla Morgan joined the firm as vice president of sales. Morgan will market Aon/Albert G. Ruben’s entertainment insurancebrokerage services to the independent film industry as well as to the affiliated segments of the film community.
“Tekla’s experience in the business affairs side of independent film and in film production provides a valuable resource and connection,” said Paul Jones, managing director of Aon/Albert G. Ruben. "She understands the nuances and structures of independent film finance, bonds and insurance and will be an important asset as we reinforce our commitment to the independent film community."
With more than two decades of experience in film completion guaranties and insurance, Morgan has crafted specialized insurance solutions for film productions worldwide, including specialized weather risks, political risks and relocation coverages for films being shot in politically sensitive and less-than-stable locales.
"We were able to insure and bond production in what is now Croatia at Jadran Studios - even as Yugoslavia was breaking up - and insure and bond on-location filming in the Middle East just days before the Gulf War," explains Morgan. “For productions with few or no cover sets, we've arranged for very specific weather-related insurance and placed insurance that would pay for losses due to a lack of snow or alternate condition. We don't just write film insurance; we help producers anticipate and cover risks so that they can focus on filmmaking."
“My job is to make certain that the independent film community continues to rely on Aon/Albert G. Ruben’s staff of film insurance experts," says Morgan. "The expertise of our team surpasses that of any other entertainment broker, and bringing that knowledge to independent filmmakers as well as to studio-based producers is my first priority."
A former executive at International Film Guarantors, Cinema Completions International and Berkley Specialty Underwriting Managers, Morgan has provided consulting services for a diverse array of corporate and individual clients.
