June 12, 2023

354 words…under a two minute read

One big thing: As part of Aon’s Smart Working approach, which offers three workstyles for how colleagues work together to deliver the best for the colleague and client experiences, the firm has reimagined its office space around the globe to better reflect the fundamental shift in where, how and when work gets done.

  • “We continue to evolve how we work together to deliver the best of Aon for our colleagues, clients and communities. As part of this effort, we’re embracing the evolution that comes with working in a modern office and are dedicated to developing collaborative teams and creating an inclusive work environment where colleagues feel valued,” said Lisa Stevens, chief people officer and head of Talent Solutions at Aon. “Investing in our physical workspaces only enhances our Smart Working approach and strengthens how we best deliver Aon United.”

Dig deeper: Aon’s offices are designed to best serve the firm’s ongoing commitment to inclusive leadership and client service, encouraging collaboration through its innovative use of the space. Offices feature areas for both formal meetings and informal collaboration, as well as video conferencing and technology solutions that enable inclusion of colleagues across Aon’s global footprint.

  • Aon offices across the EMEA region reflecting the firm’s investment in the future of work include new offices in Dublin, Ireland and Malta, and both new and renovated office space in Madrid, Spain. In Latin America, Aon has evolved its office spaces in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Santiago, Chile, and Medellín, Colombia. In the Asia Pacific region, Aon has made improvements to our space in Singapore and, in the UK, we have enhanced our spaces in Birmingham and Manchester.
  • In North America, new offices in Grand Rapids and Southfield, Michigan and Green Bay, Wisconsin also embrace the better way of working, in addition to recent renovations in Houston, Miami, Montreal and Philadelphia.
  • Similar investments are planned later this year in offices in around the world.

Local snapshot: Aon also recently extended its lease at the Aon Center in Chicago to 2030, retaining the naming rights for the building and reaffirming its commitment to the firm’s North America headquarters, with plans to enhance the experience for both colleagues and clients. Renovations to multiple floors will include investment in technology and physical spaces to better facilitate collaboration.

  • “We’re pleased to continue to have Aon’s brand connected to this iconic building in Chicago,” said Greg Case, Aon’s CEO. “With a Chicago presence since our firm was founded, we will continue to bring our colleagues, clients and community partners together, both here in Chicago and in our offices around the world, to collaborate and innovate as we help clients mitigate risk to their business and maximize the impact of their people.”

The environmental impact: As outlined in our 2022 ESG Impact Report, we are also working to reduce the carbon footprint of our office buildings and business operations through ecologically sound energy and digital solutions, as part of our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2030.

  • Aon strives to meet rigorous standards for green technology and environmentally conscious development, and the firm has achieved ISO 14001 environmental management certification for larger office buildings in Chicago, London, Singapore and Madrid.

Why it matters: Aon's Smart Working strategy is designed to maintain the highest levels of client service and collaboration among colleagues and support our Aon United culture and values and build an agile, flexible working environment that’s designed to enable connectivity and collaboration across a more resilient workforce.
