What’s happening: Summer in the Northern hemisphere brings increased travel, but severe weather, staffing issues and high demand often cause flight delays and cancellations - with few indications of a slowdown anytime soon.

- Most travel insurance policies are refundable during the “free look” period: "It can last between 10 and 15 days, and it enables you to review your plan and cancel it without being penalized," says Beth Godlin, president of Aon Affinity’s travel practice. "Take advantage of this window to read your policy carefully and assess its benefits. Do you have an appropriate level of protection based on your destination and itinerary? No matter how simple or complex the travel benefits package is, there are details and nuances in coverage you should understand to make sure you have the coverage you expect." Read more in Forbes.
- Protect your trip from heat waves and more with cancel-for-any-reason policies: “Cancel-for-any-reason policies will allow you to cancel based on the weather, as do newer policies that allow you to interrupt your trip for any reason,” Godlin says. Read more in The New York Times.
