Using Data to Make Better Decisions, from the Playing Field to the Corner Office
January 28, 2022

Whether on the golf course or in the boardroom, data helps shape better decisions. It’s more relevant than ever today, as quantitative measures, combined with expert insight, have become essential tools for captains of sports and industry alike. “You see it everywhere,” says Eric Andersen, Aon’s president. “As information got better and more available, and people became more comfortable with it, they realized it could give you a competitive advantage. And they began to use it.”

As a proud worldwide partner of the Ryder Cup, Aon understands the value of insights and information and the shared experiences of decision makers, whether in business or sport. Experience and judgment remain critically important, but successful leaders realize that decision making requires expert advice, analytics and research to make better decisions and then to build consensus around those decisions.

“Aon exists to provide clients with data-driven insights and advice that reflects our significant expertise, so that they can make decisions with clarity and confidence—even under time pressure and trying circumstances,” Andersen said.

To learn more, read the second article  of our series in partnership with Bloomberg Media Studios, which explores how leaders can make better decisions to prepare for – and build upon – whatever comes next, no matter their field of play.
