In honor of Earth Day, we’re highlighting Aon’s own commitments to a more environmentally sound and sustainable future. In a message to global Aon colleagues, Aon President Eric Andersen shared the following:

“At Aon, we are united in our efforts to play a role in protecting our planet by taking actions to contribute to a clean and healthy environment – and helping others do the same.”

“Whether it’s partnering with government entities to address infrastructure challenges, bringing new capital sources to bear to scale emerging climate technology, creating new, advanced analytical insights, or ensuring traditional energy sources transition through to a stable energy future – it is critical that we play our part.”

In 2020, Aon announced its commitment to net-zero emissions by 2030. As a result, the firm is focusing on key areas of improvement:

• Refining our sustainable sourcing strategy;
• Driving energy efficiency across the real estate portfolio and technology;
• Thoughtfully approaching business travel and our working environment; and
• Transitioning to renewable energy.

Aon also advises clients and participates in industry conversations on commitments to net-zero emissions and broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues. Recent highlights include: 

• Andersen recently addressed the industry on climate risks and opportunities at the Bermuda Risk Summit. (You can read coverage from The Insurer here and here.)
• The firm highlighted opportunities to help shape better decisions in its recent The One Brief article, “How Organizations Can Find a Path to Net Zero,” outlining the following as opportunities: innovating new technologies that reduce emissions, understanding the impact of climate change on key stakeholders and recognizing the positive economic impact.
• Last fall, Aon participated in COP26, the 2021 United Nations (UN) climate change conference, where Aon CEO Greg Case spoke on the panel, “Financing Net Zero – Driving systemic transition, resilience and stability.”
